EU promoting Balkan

EU promoting Balkan
The European Commission aims to fight prejudgments against Balkan and Turkey among the most skeptical European countries, through a video clip realized by the Enlargement Directory.

The 60 second clip shows images from different countries, selected for showing the historical, cultural and social similarities.

When asked by Balkan correspondents in Brussels, Peter Stano, the Spokesperson for Commissioner for Enlargement, Stefan Fule, explained that this material was not conceived for giving any political message, but for promoting the similarities between the EU members and the aspirating countries.

Besides the social networks on Internet, the clip will be shown together with advertisments in the cinemas of Austria, Britain, France, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Denmark and Finland.

When asked why Iceland was missing in this video, Stano declared that Iceland is more European, since they have longer cooperation relations with the EU, which also goes for Turkey.

The clip concludes with Albania. The video that promotes the Balkan countries, realized by the Commission for the EU countries, has the motto: “So similar, so different, so European”.
