Golden Dawn MPs Testimony Delayed

golden-dawnAs the Greek government continues to build a case and said it has uncovered a wealth of new evidence, three Golden Dawn MPs – Giorgos Germenis, Stathis Boukouras and Panagiotis Iliopoulos – who were due to testify on Dec. 7 have had their appearance set back until next month on charges of participating in a criminal gang.
Another 34 cases involving members of the neo-Nazi party are being processed while six of its 18 lawmakers have been arrested. Three of them, including party leader Nikos Michaloliakos are still being detained despite growing protests from other members and supporters of the party who said the government is pursuing political persecution and prosecution.
The homes of the three MPs were raided by counter-terrorism police on Dec. 6, with investigators removing a number of desktop computers, laptops, hard drives and mobile phones. Prosecutors Ioanna Klapa and Maria Dimitropoulou will examine the evidence.
Preliminary reports suggest that the collected evidence contains a lot of information on communications of Michaloliakos, party spokesman and MP Ilias Kasidiaris and Yannis Lagos. The attorneys of the Golden Dawn members will be given DVD copies of the recovered evidence.
