Identity of attacker on Ivanović family still unknown

KOSOVSKA MITROVICA -- Deputy Regional Director of the Kosovo Police (KPS) Besim Hoti has said that the identity of the attacker on the family of Oliver Ivanović is still unknown.

A man on Thursday broken into Ivanović's apartment in the northern part of Kosovska Mitrovica and attacked his wife, who sustained minor injuries. At the time of the attack she was at home with a minor child, according to reports.
Based on what the attacker said it is assumed that the motive for was the political engagement of Oliver Ivanović and his calls to Kosovo Serbs to participate in local elections scheduled for November 3.

Office of the Government of Serbia for Kosovo condemned the attack on the candidate for mayor in northern Kosovska Mitrovica. The statement calls on Kosovo Serbs not to enter into mutual recriminations, and especially not to attack the family members of political opponents.

The statement also asked competent authorities to find in the shortest possible time and punish the attacker, "which would give residents of Kosovo and Metohija hope that these misdeeds will not happen again."

Director of the administrative office of the Priština government Adriana Hodžić strongly condemned the attack on the family of the president of the Civic Initiative Serbia Democracy Justice Oliver Ivanović.

The police said they were working to shed light on this case.
