Serbia interrupts diplomatic relations with Albania

!
Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, has decided to boycott for a 6-month period Albania's ambassador to Belgrade, Ilir Bocka.

He said today to the Serbian media that the Albanian ambassador will not have diplomatic contacts after refusing to accept a protest note of the Serbian government, over the incident in Tirana, where some hit with a stone the bust with the Serbian players.

Vucic told reporters that Albania has the right to have such a reaction, to which Serbia can respond in two ways: to proclaim Albanian ambassador as persona non grata or deny him meetings with Serbian officials for a period of 6 months.

"Within 6 months he will not meet with me or with any other officials. I cannot understand one such anti-diplomatic behavior", said Vucic.

Albanian foreign ministry said that "we are disappointed by the actions of the Serbian authorities, to prejudice the goodwill of Albanian authorities of the football match. Such decision is a non-proportional response. Such reactions, as well as the arbitrary reading of the immunity and privileges of diplomats, beyond all-accepted rules of international law remind us of outdated practices,"said spokesperson Glevin Dervishi.
