Skopje. A dramatically high deficit has been registered in the national budget in March, the Macedonian Utrinski Vesnik daily writes.
According to the newspaper in March the budget gap was EUR 78,5 million, or 27.3% of the total deficit planned for this year.
The main reason for the deficit is the payment of agricultural subsidies. Since the beginning of the year, the budget deficit runs to EUR 185,7 million in total, or 64.5% of the one predicted for the year.
According to the daily, the deficit in the rest nine months must not exceed EUR 102 million, given the fact that the government forecasts EUR 287,7 million deficit for the entire year.
“It will be interesting to see how the government will manage to stay within these borders,” writes the newspaper.
