U.S. and Britain warned their citizens: to be careful, expected protests in Albania


Embassies of the United States of America and Great Britain in Tirana, have warned their citizens in Albania to take care after the decision on January 21 could provoke protests.

"The U.S. Embassy advises U.S. citizens to the potential existence of spontaneous protests in response to the decision of the Tirana Court acquitted two persons who were on trial for their role in violent demonstration on January 21, 2011. While no demonstrations planned at this time, we urge U.S. citizens to be in care, when traveling to Tirana.

Embassy reminded that demonstrations and other large gatherings, which have peaceful purposes, can escalate into violence, "the U.S. embassy said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the British Embassy warns its citizens to avoid demonstrations and large crowds.

"The political atmosphere is tense due to the general elections in June 2013. Take care to avoid demonstrations and large crowds, "said the notice.
