Berisha, lobbying for Kosovo
The Albanian Prime Minister is lobbying for further Kosovo independence recognitions in New York, with an intensive agenda that involves inviting foreign investors and that explains to the EU and US partners the political developments in the country and Albania’s efforts for EU integration.

Berisha confirmed his will for progressing with the EU membership goal during the meeting with the President of Slovenia, an EU member country.

While speaking with the US Congressman Eliot Engel, a friend of the Albanians, Berisha welcomed the return of the opposition in Parliament and expressed his hopes that they would seriously get involved with the electoral reform, by contributing with their consensus and positive will in the fulfillment of the EU integration requirements.

During the meeting with the US Congressman Engel, Berisha also discussed about the further recognition of the Kosovo independence and the coordination of their joint efforts.

Both politicians valued the maturity of the Kosovo Government for their first steps in the consolidation of rule of law and for strengthening Kosovo’s sovereignty.

Prime Minister Berisha confirmed the stance of the Albanian government for preserving the existing borders in Balkan as the best policy in service of peace and regional stability.

During his visit in New York, for the 66th session of the UN General Assembly, Berisha met the Prime Minister of Bhutan and asked him to take in consideration the file for the Kosovo independence, underlining that the independence recognition for Europe’s newest country would contribute to a further consolidation of peace and stability in the region.
