Ta Nea: The extra measures that Brussels wants from Greece caused shock, horror

Athens. The burden of the extra measures that Brussels demanded the Greek government to introduce to save another EUR 3 billion have caused shock and horror, the Greek Ta Nea comments.

Despite the increase of the value added tax (VAT), the excise duty for fuels, the tax on luxury goods and the removal of the 14th salary, Brussels will most probably ask for job cuts to be made in the public sector.

In fact, undertaking extra measures is obligatory, because if Greece does not do it itself, the measures would be imposed on it by the EU Finance Ministers Council, which is to be held in March, when Athens will not even have the right to express its opinion.

Meanwhile, the supervision on Greece will start in the next few days, when a team of the European Commission, the European Central Bank and the International Monetary Fund will arrive in Greece, the newspaper reads further.
