EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini, and commissioners Cecilia Malmstrom and Johannes Hahn, in their new letter, state that Haradinaj's unilateral actions jeopardize the progress made so far in the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue.

EU officials also welcomed the resolution on the dialogue adopted by the Kosovo Assembly on Haradinaj's initiative, but, according to Pristina-based media, they indicated that the dialogue will continue in the same format, which implies that the EU continues to consider only Hashim Thaci as the representative of Pristina's positions, and the participant in the dialogue.

EU spokesperson Maja Kocijancic confirmed for Tanjug that the letter has been sent to Haradinaj, but did not wish to speak about its content.

The content has been revealed by the website of Pristina-based Albanian language daily Gazeta Express, which stressed that the EU "troika" first "rejects Haradinaj's assessment, which he presented in his previous letter (reply) to Brussels, that little has been achieved in the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue so far."

According to this, their message to the Kosovo government is that "it should be clear that the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina should be continued in the format in which this process had been initiated."

"We strongly reject your assessment that the dialogue has stalled. Instead, the dialogue headed by the two presidents is marked by a steady progress. We shared this assessment with EU leaders at the European Council in December, and received encouraging messages of support," the letter sent to Haradinaj is quoted as saying.

EU representatives think that the resolution adopted at the Kosovo Assembly is "important and should contribute to accelerating the continuation of the process in a constructive way, within the high-level dialogue."

"We welcome this, and we consider it to be the introductory positions of Kosovo, which will be expressed by its president in the continuation of the dialogue," the letter said, adding that the EU considers the dialogue to be the only realistic framework for resolving the normalization of relations between Pristina and Belgrade.gazetatema.net
