TIRANA, Oct. 16 (Xinhua) -- The Albanian government launched Monday a new strategy on Diaspora and Migration as well as an action plan aimed at including Albanian living abroad in the country's decision-making and registering all immigrants.
"Albania is the last country which has not realized yet the direct inclusion of all the emigrants in the most important process of decision-making in the country, the voting process," Albanian Premier Edi Rama told reporters during the presentation of the strategy.
He noted that another key target of the strategy was to realize registration of the Albanians abroad within a deadline of next year.
"Next year we want to realize registration of Albanians worldwide. This target coincides with our national hero, Skanderbeg's Year. And we aim that in the second summit of the Diaspora to have a concrete result of the registration of the Albanians abroad," said Rama.
Albania's Minister of State on Diaspora Pandeli Majko emphasized the need that the Diaspora plan must be implemented right away.
He announced establishment of the Agency on Diaspora dependent by the prime minister, the launch of a newspaper on the Diaspora as well as a state-run TV station, TVSH 3, dedicated to the Diaspora.
