Durres-Kukes road in concession
The Albanian government has decided to restart the tender for the maintenance concession of the Nation’s Road.

“We’re in the phase of preparing the concession model. This huge investment made by the citizens of this country needs to be maintained, so that it doesn’t degrade but have the investment returned. We will tender this as a concession by the end of this spring”, declared the Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure, Edmond Haxhinasto.

The Durres-Kukes road, although it is one of the most expensive investments in our country, is facing several problems as regards quality and standards. IN the joint press conference of the Ministers of Infrastructure of Albania and Kosovo, the Minister of Kosovo, Fehmi Mujota, declared that the commercial exchange with Kosovo have increased with four times, since the building of the road. But it’s mostly based on the human service exchange, rather than goods, what creates the need to improve standards and turn it into a commercial corridor for the region.

“The commercial exchange between Albania and Kosovo for the circulation of goods and people, since the opening of the road, has increased with four times. A sufficient indicator to make better standards for this road”, Mujota declared.
