The Albanian Military asset scandal

Military asset scandal
The Secretary of the “Property with Justice” Association, Myshit Vorpsi, expressed his concern regarding the way how he public military assets are being privatized. During an interview for Top Channel, Vorpsi accused the government of lacking transparency.

“Every privatization must have transparency, so that everyone can know that an object is on sale, even those who don’t have concrete interests on it. Why aren’t these properties part of the physical compensation of former property owners? Why do you compensate the former owners with forests on top of mountains, and not with these objects that the army doesn’t need anymore? Why should the Albanian owners be so left asside?”, Vorpsi declared.

Vorpsi joins the opposition’s opinion that these properties could compensate the former owners. According to him, the Albanian government is wrong thinking that they can compensate the former owners with money.

“The obligation of the Albanian state against the former owners has extraordinary measures and if they think that the Albanian owners will be compensated with monetary values, this is not the solution of the problem, but it is the destruction of this entire problem that is related with the property rights. The first question is why shouldn’t these objects be used for compensating the former owners”, Vorpsi declared.

MP Erjon Brace declared yesterday that 1.2 million square meters of land are being sold without transparency and in a corruptive way by the Ministry of Defense.
