Rama; "Albania is a strong partner of its National interest with Turkey"

SManalysis

The friendly issue between Albania and Turkey has worried many EU countries with Albania, especially Greece. There is a massive increase in Albanian opinion against Greece, which is seen as the only country from which Albania's sovereignty can be endangered, this is clearly expressed in the National Strategy of Albania and that a defense of its national interests can only come through a military support with Turkey.

Rama "clashes" with the member of Greece in the Council of Europe,

Prime Minister Edi Rama debated at the General Assembly of the Council of Europe with the member of Greece in the Council of Europe, Nina Kasimati, regarding Albania's relationship with Turkey.

Kasimati asked Rama that Albania's adherence to European values would be incompatible with the policy of synergy and actors like Turkey that undermine human rights and influence cooperation.

On the other hand, Rama answered with irony that he understands her concern as a representative of Greece, while he defended Turkey.

However, Rama referred to an expression of his grandmother about the neighbor that "a happy neighbor means a happy home" and the opposite is clear.

Kasimati :  Although in this tactless way, you are aware that we are very determined to help Albania and other countries of the Western Balkans to fulfill the process for Albania's membership.

Do you think that Albania's adherence to European values would be incompatible with the policy of synergy and actors like Turkey that undermine human rights and influence cooperation?

Rama :  Ladies from Greece, it is now understandable why you are worried about our relationship with Turkey. In our foreign policy, both are defined as strategic partners. I did not understand your question about Albania. You have your own problems. I hope you resolve them through dialogue and international justice.

When it comes to us, we do not compare and choose between our strategic partners and friends. Neighbors are there forever, my grandmother who was wise told me "a happy neighbor is a happy home" and the opposite is clear. We are not afraid of anything bad coming from Albania, it is important for the security and stability of Europe.

Without Turkey, the refugee crisis of 2015 would have turned into an apocalyptic crisis for the most powerful countries in Europe, it was Turkey that stood in Europe's ports and did what it did.

I want to add that I have the honor to know and the privilege to consider myself a friend of both. They are the best people in the right place to solve this. Neither Greece nor Turkey will run away.
