Man On Bergen County 'Most Wanted' List Extradited From Albania, Authorities Say
Indrit Shehi, who was on the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office Most Wanted List, has been extradited to New Jersey form Albania, authorities announced Tuesday.
Sheshi, 35, was returned to New Jersey on Friday and placed in the custody of the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office after being extradited from Albania, said Sheriff Michael Saudino.
Shehi, 35, was a fugitive since 2006 when he failed to appear for arraignment in Bergen County Superior Court on an armed robbery charge out of Lodi, Saudino said. He was also charged with unlawful possesson of a weapon.
Shehi’s arrest was the result of an investigation by the sheriff’s office, the United States Marshal’s Service, and the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of International Affairs, which approved and submitted the warrant for Shehi’s extradition to the United States, Saudino said.
Shehi is being housed at the Bergen County Jail, said Anthony Cureton, spokesman with the sheriff’s office. Shehi will be arraigned in court, but Cureton did not know the exact date.
