According to reports quoting officials in Kiev, the troops "used stun grenades and APC" as they overrun the installation located in western Crimea.
Crimea last week joined the Russian Federation, "despite the opposition of the international community," said reports.

The base in Feodosia was one of a few military structures that still had Ukrainian flag on them "after the Russian annexation," said Reuters.

A Ukrainian army lieutenant, identified as Anatoly Mozgovoi, was quoted as telling the British agency in a telephone conversation that "the Russians had fired shots and the Ukrainian soldiers were unarmed," and confirming that the base had been taken over.
