Rama: We will not vote on August 6th

Rama: We will not vote on August 6th
“August 6th doesn’t represent anything for us. It is an arbitrary date that has cut a process in half”.

This is what Edi Rama declared in an interview for Top Channel, confirming that the opposition will not vote the Constitutional amends for the immunities on the date proposed by Berisha.

Top Channe: What will do the Socialist Party on August sixth? Would you vote the initiative for removing the immunity, or would you stand to your position?

Edi Rama: The Socialist Party will not vote on August sixth. The reason is very simple. We agreed for the variant that was discussed on our proposition, we voted it at the Commission of Laws and we will vote it when all Constitutional amends will be discussed with transparency and everything will be shared with the public.

Top Channel: August sixth is very near. If you don’t agree on this proposition, will this stalemate continue even in September?

Edi Rama: August sixth doesn’t represent anything. It is not a historical or symbolical date. It is a date that was decided arbitrarily, but cutting a process in the middle, when it should be complete and integrated in a discussion process for the constitutional amends, based on the propositions that were presented. All propositions should be discussed before being voted. We will not vote in August or in September to amend the Constitution. We will not allow it. We will vote for the things that we have agreed.
