One quarter of Montenegrins have gun license

PODGORICA -- Around 103,743 out of 450,000 Montenegrins over the age of 18, have a firearm possession license.
Montenegrin police, however, believe that the number of illegal guns is much higher.
According to the Montenegrin Interior Ministry, the majority of licenses has been issued in Podgorica – 24,304 which is one quarter of the total number of licenses issued in the country.

According to police information, 747 guns, for which their owners did not have licenses, were seized last year in Montenegro.

Around 200 firearms, including 18 automatic rifles, three semi-automatic rifles and a machine gun, were seized since the beginning of the year.
