Sofia. Bulgarians in Macedonia have marked the 135th anniversary of Bulgaria’s Liberation, Pande Evtimov from Skopje told FOCUS News Agency.

He said the Bulgarian embassy in the Macedonian capital had organized a reception for the Bulgarians in Macedonia, foreign ambassadors and government in the Alexandra Palace Hotel in Skopje. More than 1,500 guests, including some from Bulgaria, attended the reception.

“There were guests from all Macedonian cities. The reception was very well organized. The Bulgarian and Macedonian anthems were played. The ambassador delivered a speech, noting the need of closer ties between the two countries. The reception was held in a very good atmosphere,” said Pande Evtimov.

On Sunday a big group of Bulgarians in Macedonia visited Boris Drangov’s grave in Skopje’s graveyards. They laid wreaths and lit candles for him and all Bulgarians who died for Bulgaria’s freedom.
“This is a very celebratory moment, events the Bulgarians in Macedonia hold every year,” he added.
