The European Parliament voted on Thursday in favor of a non-binding
resolution on freezing Turkey's EU accession talks.

In the resolution, European Parliament lawmakers condemned
"disproportionate repressive measures" taken by the government in the
aftermath of the abortive coup, claiming they violated "basic rights and
freedoms protected by the Turkish Constitution.
On November 23, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the EU
Parliament's possible decision to freeze negotiations on Turkey’s
accession to the European Union makes no difference for Ankara.
