Forming armed forces in Kosovo threats implementation of Brussels agreement – Drecun

BELGRADE – Milovan Drecun, president of the parliamentary Committee for Kosovo-Metohija (KiM), stated on Tuesday that forming armed forces in Kosovo destabilizes the position of Serbs, and poses a threat not only for the survival and security of Serbs in Kosovo, but also for the implementation of the Brussels agreement.

Drecun told reporters in the parliament that such formation can in no way be a protector of the citizens.
“How this formation will be called does not change the essence. As for us, this cannot be the army of Kosovo since we do not recognize Kosovo’s unilateral declaration of independence,” Drecun said.
He believes that such forces are no contribution to the regional peace and stabilization, and that they do not contribute to the implementation of the Brussels agreement.
“This armed force, which is the successor of notorious Kosovo Protection Corps which succeeded the Kosovo Liberation Army, was created, trained and armed by NATO. I believe that it is not a contribution to regional peace and stability to have this formation administratively renamed into a kind of army,” Drecun said.
He thinks that the Albanian side is operating mostly for internal reasons since it has felt that its position in the international arena is weakening and it wants to establish itself as a NATO partner.
