The Macedonian Defense Minister, Talat Xhaferri, declared during his visit in Tirana that both countries will cooperate in common peacekeeping missions after 2014, reducing this way the financial cost.

Xhaferri declared that Macedonia is offering its training centers to Albania.

“We are ready to keep contributing with the common ally forces even in the post ISAF 2014 format. We made an offer for our training capabilities to be used also by the Albanian Army”, Xhaferri declared.

The Albanian Defense Minister offered our government’s support for Macedonia’s NATO accession. Imami said to be optimistic for a quick solution of Macedonia’s name issue, so that the country can be part of the NATO.

“The first and most important issue is the integration of Macedonia and the entire region in the Northern Atlantic structures. Albania’s position is stable in the fact that Macedonia should be a NATO member. The name issue, which has been the only obstacle for this country, should find a solution as quickly as possible”, Imami declared.

Both ministers reiterated the support that they should give to Kosovo, so that they can be present in all military initiatives in the region. They greeted the Belgrade-Prishtina agreement and added that Kosovo should take an active role.
