"250,000 Montenegrins live in Turkey"
SOURCE: BETA
ISTANBUL -- There are 250,000 Montenegrin immigrants living in Turkey, their representatives have announced.
This figure is equal to 40% of the total population of Montenegro.
An association gathering persons coming from Montenegrin who live in Turkey met on Wednesday in Istanbul with the Montenegrin prime minister's adviser for foreign policy, Nebojša Kaluđerović.
Interest was expressed during the meeting to open consulate general of Montenegro in Istanbul, while Kaluđerović announced his country would soon adopt a law on the diaspora.
Montenegro does not have legislation related to this issue, and has not set up a state organ to deal with cooperation with the diaspora - although this was envisaged in the 2009 national strategy.
