Saninno of Brussels, receives the Integration Plan

Saninno receives the Integration Plan
After the Albanian majority and opposition returned to parliamentary cooperation, passing important laws that require qualified majority, the European Commission started giving positive signals for the European future of Albania.

The message was made clear by the high rank official of the European Commission, Stefano Sannino, who received the Action Plan by PM Berisha, planned for the first time in cooperation with the opposition.

This plan that was sent to the European Commission is the concretization of the Albanian political will to implement the reforms needed for the European integration, and the time when these necessary steps will be taken for the fulfillment of the 12 candidate status conditions.

“The European Commission and the European Union welcome the new constructive spirit of cooperation between the Albanian political parties, in order to push the European agenda forward. I want to reiterate that the success for the implementation of this agenda is a success for everyone, not only for one political party”, Sannino declared.

“Considering the government’s role, it can only be an all inclusive process. Regardless of who is in power, all political forces become collaborators with the promotion of this process in the biggest national project. In this context, this spirit is prevailing more than ever in Albania”, Berisha declared.

Berisha and Saninno recognized the serious work that is being made by both parties for fulfilling some conditions that require consensus, such as the electoral reform or the Administrative Court law. But the limitation of immunities is currently on a stalemate. Brussels would welcome an agreement between the parties, as a basic step in the war against corruption. Prime Minister Berisha guaranteed that the government is ready to compromise.

“We will accept what the opposition calls appropriate for removing the immunities in Albania. We will also implement an agreement that Albania has since 2004 with the European Council. Let us become a country without immunity regarding corruption and ordinary crime”, Berisha declared.

“We would welcome the immunity limitation as a very important step, according to the modalities on which the political parties will agree for”, Saninno declared.

Underlining that Brussels considers as vital for Albania to turn the European Action Plan into a national agenda, Mr. Saninno asked the constant engagement of all parties in this process.

“We are partners in this effort, and we share one objective with each other, which is the behavior of Albania for at the European Union, and altogether, by joining the forces, I am sure that we will be able to overcome it”, Saninno declared.
