Rama, meetings in the US Congress
After meeting the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Europe, Philip Reeker, the Socialist leader, Edi Rama, continued his visit at the US Congress.

The opposition leader met congressmen Engel and Peters with whom he discussed the new Socialist Party political program.

Congressmen Peters and Engel have valued the Socialist Party role and offered their support to the program.

Rama also met Gregory Meeks, the highest democrat at the Commission of Foreign Relations, group of Europe.

The Socialist Leader thanked the congressman for the strong support to Albania in its NATO integration process and asked him at the same time a concrete help for the country’s EU membership.

Focusing on the new SP program on sport, Rama met a US football star, Heath Shuler, today a Congressman of Northern Caroline.

Congressman Shuler offered concrete ideas for this sector, and a second meeting in Tirana was planned for a bigger promotion of sportive culture in our country.

The opposition leader met the Head of the Commission for the Interior Security, Congressman Aderholt. Rama’s meeting with congressman Aderholt was focused on Albania.

The Socialist leader, in a message on his official web page says that Congressman Aderholt, Head of the Security Commission, was very interested on Albania.

Aderholt asked information about the electoral reform process. After Mr. Rama’s invitation, Aderholt might visit Albania on May 2012.

Rama started his visit in the USA by meeting a group of students at the New York University and representatives of the Albanian community in New York.

While in Washington, in an interview for the VOA studio, he held a series of meetings with US officials at the US state department.
