Albania's annual inflation slows in April

TIRANA (Albania), May 8 (SeeNews) - Albania's consumer price inflation slowed to 1.9% year-on-year in April, from 2.1% in March, the statistical office, INSTAT, said on Monday.
Prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, which have the largest weight of 40% in the consumer basket, grew by 3% on the year in April, after adding 3.3% a month earlier.
Housing, water, electricity and fuel prices, which have a weight of 20.7% in the consumer basket, edged up 0.9% on the year in April, following an increase of 1.1% in March.
On a monthly comparison basis, consumer prices in Albania turned to a deflation of 0.6% in April from 0.4% inflation a month ago.
Last week, Albania's central bank decided to keep its key interest rate at record low 1.25%. Inflation is anticipated to return to the central bank's target of 3% around the end of 2018.
