Foreign Ministry spokesperson
Konstantinos Koutras stated the following in response to journalists’
questions regarding an article, published today in the Albanian daily
Shekulli, according to which the Greek Foreign Minister, in an official
announcement, allegedly expressed his disapproval of supportfor a
specific candidacy in the upcoming local elections in Albania:
“Greece’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikos Kotzias, never made such a statement or announcement. The foreign policy of principles and of respect for international law and good neighbourly relations that the Greek government implements in incompatible with such moves, which would constitute intervention in the election process of a neighbouring and friendly country.”
