KOVROV, June 4 (RIA Novosti) – Russia is considering offering Hollywood star Steven Seagal a job as promoter of its small arms manufacturers abroad, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said Tuesday.Addressing the workers of the plant, Rogozin said the actor, who is known for his portrayal of action heroes fighting terrorism, could help Russia promote its weaponry brands on foreign markets and at major arms shows.
“You are ready to fight Americans [manufacturers] with your teeth and your intellect, and if Americans are ready to promote and support you, that says a lot, that shows that we're learning new ways to work on corporate arms markets," Rogozin said.
Seagal has recently become a frequent guest of the Russian authorities.
The star of “Hard to Kill” and “Under Siege” made headlines in March when he joined Russian President Vladimir Putin at the opening of a martial arts center in Moscow to support a plan to improve physical fitness in Russia.
He visited the Russian republic of Chechnya in May and met with Ramzan Kadyrov, a former militant fighter who now heads the region.
Seagal on Saturday accompanied a group of US congressmen on a visit to the ruined school in Beslan, in Russia's North Ossetia, that was the site of a bloody hostage crisis in 2004. He pledged to dedicate the rest of his life to fighting terrorism.
