Israel offering equipment to the Hellenic Coast Guard

Israel recently offered weapons, ammunition, technical support and other material assistance, to the Hellenic Coast Guard (HCG).
The multilevel assistance provided by the Greek government to Israel, during the flotilla bound for Gaza incident, was not left without a response.
The Israeli side requested to express its gratitude to the HCG, which faces shortages of weapons, tools and technical support (spare parts) because of the economic crisis. The Greeks officials – to their credit – refused any offer in cash, but instead asked the Israelis, who insisted on expressing their gratitude, to provide some equipment. With rapid procedures they drafted a wish list and the Israelis began fulfilling the Greek requests.
The list included: a) a significant number of anti-ballistic bullet proof vests of high standards, b) Jericho pistols with the required spare parts and ammunition c) supplies and parts for electronic devices and sensors for the boats of the HCG d) technical assistance and support equipment for the boats of the HCG as well as other ‘undisclosed’ assistance in accordance with the requests set by the Greek side.
Thanks to the immediate and decisive reaction of the Hellenic Coast Guard and its leadership, the Israelis had the chance to express without delay their gratitude and friendliness in a practical way.
