Albanian Government approves loan with Abu Dhabi Fund for Development on Tirana–Elbasan Highway

The Council of Ministers approved today the draft law, “On ratification of loan agreement between the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Albania and Abu Dhabi Fund for Development on financing Tirana–Elbasan Highway project.” The construction of the new Tirana–Elbasan Highway is the government of Albania priority and it will get financed mainly by foreign donors among which the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development will provide an amount of 50 million USD. The construction of Tirana–Elbasan Highway targets to efficiently increase the economic and social development in the regions of central and southern Albania and further on all the southeastern areas of the country. The road targets to improve and make easier the movement of the vehicles and especially the heavy traffic along Tirana–Elbasan road segment. It is part of the Southern Axis and meets the requirements of the traffic along this road axis and is in compliance with the requirements of the National Strategy for Development and Integration.
