Controversial Property Bill Returns to Albanian Parliament
Tirana | 14 September 2010 |Albania parliament
A controversial property rights bill previously vetoed by Albania's President as being 'unconstitutional' has been returned by the ruling Democratic Party, PD, for a vote in parliament.
The draft-law aims to provide a legal framework for the Assets Restitutions and Compensation Agency, AKKP, which returns property confiscated by the former communist regime to its former owners. The parliamentary commission on Legal Issues and the Public Administration voted on Monday to return the bill, which is also contested by interest groups, to the assembly floor without any changes in its content.
Observers said parliament would probably vote on it on Thursday..............
