Official Washington expects Belgrade and Pristina to return to dialogue, immediately after the current political circumstances in Kosovo are resolved, said the special representative of the American Secretary of State for the Western Balkans, Matthew Palmer.

Speaking at a webinar hosted by the German Marshall Fund (GMF), Palmer stressed that Washington is not interfering in Kosovo's political processes but wants to see the country have a "strengthened and responsible" government.

"The United States does not want to influence the process in any way. We do not want to elect the future government of Kosovo. We do not have favorites, nor do we choose parties," Palmer underlined, adding:

"What we want to see is a process based on the Constitution of Kosovo and the legal framework of Kosovo that will produce a representative government that is ready to engage in dialogue."
