European Union Commissioner for Internal Affairs Dimitris Avramopoulos said he was pleased with the fact that the European Parliament recognized the importance of a visa-free regime for Kosovo.
EU visa liberalization rapporteur Tanja Fajon said that Kosovo remained a "black hole in the Western Balkans" when it comes to visas, and urged the EU to react immediately.
Some EU member-states do not support visa liberalization for Kosovo out of fear of migration risk and the problems that the EU has already had with the influx of asylum seekers from that territory.
