Pro-Independence Parties Win Regional Election In Catalonia

The Junts pel Si (Together for Yes) coalition promoted by Catalan President Artur Mas secured 64 seats out of 135 in the regional parliament, according to the exit poll data.

BARCELONA (Sputnik) — The pro-independence parties obtained over 50 percent of votes at the Sunday Catalan regional election, exit polls conducted for local TV3 broadcaster showed.
The Junts pel Si (Together for Yes) coalition promoted by Catalan President Artur Mas secured 64 seats out of 135 in the regional parliament, according to the exit poll data. The coalition is followed by the radical left-wing pro-independence Popular Unity Candidacy party with 10 seats. The two leaders together exceed the number of seats needed for absolute majority by six. The center-left Citizens party got 20 sets, the left-wing coalition Catalonia Yes we Can obtained 16 seats. The Socialists' Party of Catalonia and the conservative People's Party of Catalonia secured 13 and 12 seats respectively, the exit polls showed.
The data was derived after interviewing about 30,000 voters.
