“There are still obvious disagreements about how the incident occurred, but we must not and we will not miss the opportunity to meet and work on maintaining regional stability,” the two officials underlined. It is time we turned a new page in the political and economic relations between Serbia and Albania, the two prime ministers concluded. Vucic and Rama underlined that it is necessary to continue the dialogue and the process started at a conference on the Western Balkans in Berlin on August 28, because that will pave the way to improvement in relations between the two countries, the region and entire Europe.
The European championship qualifier match between Serbia and Albania in Belgrade on October 14 was abandoned after a brawl that followed the appearance of a drone with a flag depicting the so called Greater Albania, a nationalist project that would include parts of Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia and Greece. UEFA launched an investigation against both football associations.
