The visit of the Greek deputy prime minister and foreign minister, Evangelos Venizellos was accompanied today (22.02) with protests held by several associations in Skopje, led by the World Macedonian Congress.
The protests were held in front of the government building as a sign of discontent against the visit of the head of the Greek diplomacy, Evangelos Venizelos.
The protest has not been massive and it only saw the participation of tens of protesters holding banners against Venizelos and Athens in their hands.
Todor Petrov, representative of the World Macedonian Congress, the political party of which is in coalition with the party of prime minister Nikola Gruevski, has demanded to Venizelos, as representative of the EU in the first half of the year, to recognize the name of the country and identity of Macedonians.
“In spite of hour history full of problems, Greeks and Macedonians must reconcile and reach a long term agreement of peace and good neighboring relations between the two countries”, said Todor Petrov. /ibna/
