Albania rejects the Islamic Organization Meeting

Assembly leader Ilir Meta answers negative to OBI 's invitation

Albania will not take part in the 9th session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation ( OBI ), which will take place on 18-19 February at Tehran.

Assembly leader Ilir Meta has given a negative response to the invitation to participate in this conference sent by his Iranian counterpart.

This means that Albania would not be politically represented in the collection of member countries OBI 's.

Negative response is justified by " budgetary constraints this year and due to the tight political agenda ".

On 23 October 1992, Albania has made an application seeking to participate with full rights in the Organization for Islamic Cooperation . But the Albanian parliament has not ratified the vote ever Albania's participation in this organization , leaving the legal situation unclear terms .
