Golden Dawn Moves Greeks-only Food Handout To Head Offices After Ban
The Golden Dawn announced that it would proceed with a free food handout
to another location after police announced a ban on any kind of public
gathering in central Athens, between noon to midnight on Wednesday.
Golden Dawn had initially intended to organize the handout on Attikis
Square.
On Tuesday, Athens Mayor Giorgos Kaminis, who is supported by SYRIZA and PASOK, and who was hand-picked by George Papandreou to head the socialist ballot, issued a statement stating that the party had not received permission to hold the event while Golden Dawn insisted that it had notified authorities in time and had a right to go ahead with its plans.
Reports later on in the evening claimed that over 10,000 citizens were present at the handout.
