Drug from Albania seized in Italy

Drug from Albania seized in Italy
Another Italian police operation, similar to several others that have taken place recently, has seized 381 kilograms of narcotic substances at the Otranto Channel.

In the early morning hours of this Monday, 10 kilometres from the south-eastern Lecce, the Italian coastguards identified and chased a six-meter inflatable boat. The owners were able to go ashore and flee the scene, leaving behind 381 kilograms of marijuana on the boat.

The drug was carefully packed in 12 plastic bags and authorities suspect that it was coming from Albania, based on its quality, packaging method and location where it was seized.

The “Le Cesine” natural reserve is one of areas where police has seized very large amounts of narcotic substances coming from Albania. Only 20 days ago, the Italian coastguards seized 400 kilograms of marijuana and arrested a 35 year old from Berat, who was driving the inflatable boat.
