Self-immolated striker passes away

Today died in hospital Lirak Bejko, one of the two former political prisoners who set themselves on fire in protest against the government’s failure to compensate their years in prison.

Bejko attempted self-immolation near the tent where the political prisoners were holding a hunger strike, a few days after Gjergj Ndreca had tried the same thing. He was cured in serious conditions at the Tirana Hospital, after receiving burns in 50% of the body.

The Socialist Party paid for Bejko’s treatment in a specialized clinic in Italy. The news for his death was given by his colleagues.
