Bishop of Gjirokastra: "Himara was, is and will be Greece Land"
 


Bishop of Gjirokastra, Dhimitrios, spoke for Himara independence and his leader Spyros Spyromilos, during ceremony in Himara.

Albanian Autocephalous Orthodox Church cleric, Bishop of Gjirokastra, Dhimirios, called from Himara, as Greece land, where led a ceremony in memory of Greek soldiers, fallen in the Greek-Italian war. Metropolitan Dhimitrios said, "Himara is Greek land, has been and will remain so." 


 During his speech after the mass at the Orthodox Church in Himara, Dhimitrios, also said: "This mass is held in memory of the Greek national holiday on October 28 which is related to the 100th anniversary of Himara liberation from the Turkish yoke".  

"This orthodox ceremony held in memory of the leader of freedom, Spiro Spiromilo. Young people need to learn the history of their heroes, not to forget the past site. Common tie us heroes that are homes and Orthodox religion. And this land, Himara, had sustained relationship with Constantinople was Byzantium eye here. Should tell your parents and learn, pass this message from generation to generation, that we came not from any location and have been placed on this earth, but we have been here for centuries before we were here at the time of the Roman Empire and Greece Ancient. We were here at the time of the Balkan wars, when major territorial changes occurred. Were Greeks who came from Greece and liberated this land. But though came in Himara that had any relatives? No. Were related by blood, were Greeks, and came to fight for the liberation of all Greeks. "
