The Foreign Minister of Cyprus in Albania
Meetings with all political leaders of the country, was yesterday in Tirana, the Foreign Minister of Cyprus Erato Kazakos - Markouli, who is visiting Albania in the context of the Cyprus EU Presidency.
Prime Minister Sali Berisha informed Mr. Markouli on measures to combat corruption and the efforts of the Albanian Government for the implementation of reforms and the fulfillment of 12 criteria set by the EU for the acquisition of candidate status.
"We expect, before October, in the spirit of dialogue and cooperation, to note important steps towards meeting the 12 criteria of the European Union and important in this respect is the continuation of dialogue and consensus between the majority and the opposition" , said Marcoullis.
During the meeting, the new President of the country, Bujar Nisan, Mr. Nisan committed to advancing the reform of the justice system of the country, within its constitutional powers, to give, he said, "an end to the phenomenon of corruption in the judiciary, which is one of the controversial problems of the Albanian society. "
Mrs.. Markouli had meetings with opposition leaders, of whom called for the continuation of dialogue and consensus in its efforts for accession to the EU
