At the same time, they arrested two drug smugglers, said reports.
On Monday evening, police discovered 700 kilograms of marijuana in the port of Durres, that was about to be shipped to Italy.

300 more kilograms were found in Saranda, meant to be sold in Greece.

Several persons were also arrested on Monday elsewhere in northern Albania, on suspicion of involvement in drug trafficking.

Albanian police said that the arrests were part of a regional operation launched in Bosnia, Montenegro, Albania and Serbia, aimed against narco clans and traffickers, that saw over 60 suspects detained.
