Antigonea, new archeological discoveries
New excavations at the Archeological Park of Antigonea, in Gjirokaster, discovered a unique antic object of daily use, a stone mechanism used as mill.

The rare object has two platforms of volcanic stones, which realize the milling procedure of cereals while rubbing with each other.

The excavations also discovered a great part of the main wall that surrounded the area, a considerable surface of the residences and many antic objects of daily use, tools for weaving, 20 coins of the Epirus, metallic weapons, ornaments, amphora and pythoses.

The archeological experts led by Prof. Dr. Dhimiter Condi digged several points of the site, where local and foreign experts thought that they could find the Antigonea Theater. Although no information has been found yet for the theater, the archeologists found a temple pedestal near the surrounding wall that fortified the western part of the city.
