“Western Balkans countries must be aligned and enter the European Union, however the priority remains the rule of law and the development of market economy. The western power see the “pacifying of Serb nationalism”, NATO accession, abolition of the Republika Srpska, and “the satisfying of the Albanians” in all the countries that they live,” Gazeta Express quotes Blic.
Ivan Vejvoda, from the German Marshall Fund, Serbia will be the last to be resolved in the eyes of the West.
“July will bring [Serbia] two very important events: the visit of the most powerful woman in the world, Chancellor Angela Merker, who will visit Belgrade on July 8 and 9, and the marking of the Srebrenica Massacre, two days later”, stated the paper.
According to Blic, Merkel will demand that Serbia by the end of the Brussels process with Kosovo, accept Kosovo’s UN membership, and distance itself from the President of Republika Srbska, Milorad Dodik, and not prevent the strengthening of central institutions in Bosnia. In other words, a great weakening of the Republic of Serbia, claims Blic.
After Belgrade, Merkel will also visit Tirana and Sarajevo, Gazeta Express reports.
“Merkel will demand from PM Edi Rama to allay the nationalistic and islamic radicalism of the Albanians in Macedonia and Kosovo, and work with Serbia to advance the relations. She will warn the Bosnians that this is the ultimate time to expunge ethnic tensions and eradicate corruption, in exchange for EU perspective”, claims Blic analysis.
