The Greek government is trying to assure its European partners that Alexis Tsipras official visit to Moscow does not undermine the country’s European orientation.
Tsipras will pay a working visit to Moscow on April 8-9 at an invitation of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.
Speaking on Greek television Sunday, the government spokesman Gavriil Sakellaridis, said that the trip of the Prime Minister in Moscow is within the framework of bilateral relations.
Tsipras’s visit does not send a particular message to our European partners, said Sakellaridis.
¨"It should be seen in the context of a multidimensional economic policy. The Prime Minister can visit other countries to discuss bilateral issues", he added.
Asked about the time chosen to make this visit, the government spokesman said that the date of the trip has no symbolism, because, as he said, it was arranged long ago.
