Marine Agreement and issues between Albania and Greece will continue to be treated
 
 
President of Republic Bujar Nishani and his Greek counterpart Karolos Papoulias today agreed that the marine agreement and the Albania-Greece issues will continue to be treated between the two countries.

Through telephone conversation, President Nishani thanked President Papoulias, for the role he played in his country, the neighbor of Albania, and in the Presidency of the EU, advocating loudly for granting EU candidate status to Albania in the EU. The President emphasized that this deserved decision which is very important for Albania, is an appreciation for the achievements so far but also a strong encouragement to proceed in the way of further reforms.

"President Papoulias expressed satisfaction that the promise made during the end of the year visit to Tirana, a strong commitment to support the government during the Greek EU Presidency, was fully realized. He expressed satisfaction that the Greek presidency passes to another neighbor of Albania, respectively Italy, which is coordinated with the support so far but also in continuation for Albania. President Papoulias also expressed hope that bilateral issues will continue to be treated, including the agreement on the delimitation of the continental shelf and other maritime areas. " The Presidency said in the announcement.

President Nishani expressed confidence that the two countries would resolve all issues, including the delimitation of maritime zones in respect and implementation of European and international standards. Once again he praised President Papoulias as a special friend of Albania and Albanians.
