Rokanas: Status, within June
The Greek Ambassador, Leonidas Rokanas, visited the Greek minorities in Dropull and Pogon, Gjirokaster, where he met with local leaders and expressed the readiness of Greece for further exchange in tourism, culture and the academic sector.

As for the issue of toponyms on Albanian passports, Rokanas declared that he found enough good will among the Albanian authorities to find a solution.

“We have excellent relations. The visits of high level and the dialogue on several issues, including that of the toponyms, makes us optimistic that there is good will to find a solution. Our people share a friendship and historic relations that is represented in the daily issues. The Albanian community in Greece and the Greek community in Albania are cooperation bridges”, Rokanas declared.

As for the candidate status this June, Rokanas declared that he hopes it will happen during the Greek presidency, since Albania is on the right track.

“We believe that Albania has made several efforts for the status. It will be one of the priorities for Greece, which holds the Presidency. There is still much to do until June, but Albania has several frinds. The government has shown the right predispositions for this membership. The progress and efforts makes us more optimistic for the decision”, Rokanas declared.

During his visit in Gjirokaster, Rokanas met with academic representatives from the “Eqrem Cabej” university, where they noted the achievements and discussed about future projcets.
