Albanian leaders meet in the US
Leaders from Albania, Kosovo and Macedonia participated in the annual dinner organized in New York by the Albanian-American National Council, an organization that encourages peace and economic development in Balkan.

The organization gathers every autumn many Albanian leaders and personalities fromo all Balkan, who visit New York due to the UN General Assembly.

In this dinner was invited the Albanian President, Bujar Nishani; the Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama; The Kosovo Prime Minister, Hashim Thaci; the leader of the Alliance for Future of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj; the Deputy Prime Minister of Macedonia, Musa Xhaferri and many others.

“Voice of America” says that a group of Albanians coming from Michigan and who were representing the highlands of Albania protested against the participation of the Montenegrin Milo Gjikanovic in this dinner. But a representative of the Albanian-American Council declared that Mr.Gjukanovic was not invited.

President Bujar Nishani addressed a speech at the participants, saying that the achievements of the Albanian people would have been difficult without the help of friends and allies.

Prime Minister Edi Rama considered the achievements of the Albanian-Americans as a clear success model of how Albania can become in its path to become a developed democracy. He added that he honors with great admiration the Albanian-American community, which according to Rama is a national treasury.

This is the 17th year that the Council honors who have contributed for the Albanians wherever they are. One of them has also been the former United States President, Bill Clinton, and the former British Prime Minister, Tony Blair.
