Gjirokaster Police sources say that in this operation participated the RENEA forces, the Rapid Intervention Forces, the Delta Forces and agents from the Gjirokaster Police, led by the Vice Chief of State Police, Muhamet Rrumbullaku. According to these sources, the police entered from the Sopot Mountain, not the main road.
After eliminating the first cannabis sativa plants, some Lazarat residents have opened fire against the police. The authorities appealed the rest of the village to distance themselves from this people, making it clear that they would respond with fire to any individual that would oppose this operation.
As result, the police arrested 15 workers that were watering the parcels, seized three trucks, two water mobile tanks, two vehicles from where the aggressors shot the police and two vans with 2000 seedlings in plastic vases, which were ready to be planted. After the operation, the police left Lazarat from the Sopot Mountain road.
The police declared that the operation will be completed, regardless of what happened.
The action against the cannabis in Lazarat started on June, followed by the arrest of some residents.

“The state police appeals the Lazarat residents to distance themselves from some elements with criminal precedents who opposed the police with firearms, because the police will respond with the strength of law to everyone that gets involved in similar acts. War against the cultivation of narcotic plants remains one of the biggest priorities for the elimination of narcotic plants, not only in Lazarat but through the entire country”, declared the Director of the General State Police, Hysni Burgaj.
