Lefteris Ikonomou, the new Police Chief of Greece

The Director of Southern Region of Greece inspector, Lieutenant Eleftherios Ikonomou, as expected, placed a new leader of the Greek police ΕΛ.ΑΣ, by decision of KYSEA.

Previously he was a close associate of Minister Michael Chrisochoïdis during the period after the dismantling of the "17 November Terrorist Group". Mr Economou was spokesman for the Police Officials from the relevant ministry.

Ikonomnou has his origin from Epirus, Ioannina. He has also good relations with Northern Epirus Association and Himara Community in Greece.
